Exciting News from Villas of the Galleon

Among the many visitors we welcome to our slice of paradise on Seven Mile Beach, we’re overjoyed to share that a Baby Green Sea Turtles nest, carefully laid on our shores at Villas of the Galleon on July 4, has finally hatched!

In the soft glow of the moonlight, 97 tiny baby sea turtles emerged, making their way to the sea. It’s moments like these that remind us of the incredible natural wonders that surround us and the importance of protecting our environment.

Identifying and Protecting Turtle Tracks

Nesting Green Sea Turtles leave distinct tracks about 3 feet wide, with flipper marks aligned symmetrically as they move in a breaststroke motion. Loggerheads, another common visitor, leave a narrower track, about 2 feet wide, with curved flipper marks that create a wavy pattern. Recognizing these tracks and reporting nesting activity can help us all play a role in protecting these gentle giants.

If you spot an adult turtle nesting, discover a nest, or are lucky enough to witness adorable baby turtles heading to the sea, or if you notice anyone disturbing them in any way, please reach out to the Department of Environment:
